Hi! I'm Autumn, a
creative professional,
committed to graphic design

and social justice

This is what I do.

Autumn is a multidisciplinary creative professional. She has 15 years of industry experience working with both on and offline visual communication and design. She is ambitious and passionate about everything creative—especially branding, compositions, typography, book layout, writing, and photography. Autumn is also easy to get along with and loves to help people realize their visions.

Autumn graduated with her BA in Business Administration with a focus on Advertising and Economics from Flagler College. In 2003, she started AVR Photography, her own professional photography business photographing events, weddings, band photos, senior portraits, and product photography. Her business allowed her to travel all over the globe where she pursued a passion of landscape and travel photography.

In 2009, she started a small business, The Anglin Artisan, making handmade items and selling them at local markets and online through stores like Etsy.com and Ebay.com. This led to a career in the fashion industry making avant garde costumes she designed and sewed herself. She showed her creations in a series of runway shows from Washington to Arizona.

By 2012, Autumn began working with The Tangled Threads and designed and created all of their looks for this stiltwalking act. She has since taken on other stiltwalking clients and worked with them to create unique costumes for their acts.

Autumn has also shown her photography, watercolor paintings, mixed media collages, sculptures, hand bound art books and motorized and movable art pieces in hundreds of art shows around the world under the name Autumn Steam. She was inspired to curate an international art project called The Artist’s Shuffle, where she had over 100 artists participate.

Since 2010, Autumn has published 8 books with more on the way. She used her skills in the Adobe Suites to design and layout the books. These books are available through Amazon.com.

In 2016 and 2018 she worked on a project called Librarians With Spines, where she designed and illustrated an academic text. “Librarians With Spines is an anthology of 9 essays written by 11 radical librarians pushing the boundaries of social justice community service, library and information science, equitable bibliographic taxonomy, and ubiquitous information literacy.” (https://www.facebook.com/librarianswithspines/)

In 2018, Autumn earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and Web Design at Southern New Hampshire University where she has learned and applied more skills such as web design, UX, and the professional process for good communication with clients and customers.

In 2019, Autumn developed a web experience from the ground up for the Willamette Valley Mushroom Society. She developed a public website and a member's only area. This allowed her to modernize the membership application and payment process to accept applications online, and work with the board of directors to make data collection easier. She was also the Mushroom Show Coordinator and lead a team of volunteers to make the most successful mushroom show to date. Her expertise in local marketing and years of running events made this event open to the public, educational and  fun!

In 2020, Autumn worked with a team of people to produce an anthology of poems from around the country. She lead the team by organizing communications, identifying goals, holding everyone to deadlines and ultimately published this book with HINCHAS Press. She designed the cover, book layout, illustrated the graphics and generated the e-book. She then went on to market the book with email campaigns, website design and ebook marketing strategies. Autumn also founded the WVMS Funga study group, dedicated to documenting biodiversity of fungi in Oregon.

In 2021, Autumn worked with another team to produce an anthology of poems through the quarantine.
She lead the team by organizing communications, identifying goals, holding everyone to deadlines and ultimately published this book with HINCHAS Press. She designed the cover, book layout, illustrated the graphics and generated the e-book. Autumn was also featured as a speaker at the Urban Libraries Conference, D.O.R.K.S., WVMS, and interviewed from a blog about citizen mycology. Her work collecting and vouchering fungi specimens also got her acknowledged in a scientific paper and is working with Scientists to add her collection to the University of Florida's Herbarium. She has discovered 4 new species of fungi. Autumn advocated for her son who was recently diagnosed as Autistic to receive IEP benefits through an online schooling Oregon.

In 2022, Autumn created a Fungi and Ecology 101 video course including 19 videos, printable handouts, quizzes and interactive projects for high-school students. She also designed, produced and sold a 12 month calendar highlighting citizen mycology. She started the WVMS Funga study group, formally taking students through 10 Modules year round, teaching them about field identification of fungi and mycology terminology. She was elected as Vice-President of the Willamette Valley Mushroom Society and volunteers with the Fungal Diversity Survey as a Sequence Validator. She was invited to participate in the Oregon Potter's Association Showcase at the Oregon Convention Center for the 3 day show.

She is currently working on the third volume of Librarians With Spines and leading forays in the Oregon Wilderness.
