My process begins with a detailed conversation with the client. This involves a questionnaire and clear direction as the assets I will be designing and delivering.
Before I start designing a project I do product research and look at competitors in the market. This helps me work with the client to differentiate them visually and align with their mission and goals for their company.
Then I begin sketching ideas and will fill pages in a notebook with anything that comes to mind. Then I choose the most promising designs and develop them a bit further. These sketches are then sent to the client for them to approve and further direct me in their vision. I often have to explain design principles when they request things that I know would not work for their visual message. With our vision aligned, I begin work in Adobe Suites to further develop designs, by creating shapes, adding color, and choosing appropriate text.
These polished designs are sent to the client for their final choice and last edits. Once approved, I quickly deliver assets in a variety of file formats optimized for print and digital.
When designing websites and books, I go one step further and offer to set up documents according to the specs asked by publishing companies. This attention to detail has proved to give my clients a seamless experience from idea to product.
